How Your Vibration Affects Weight Loss (Part II)

Posted by Angie on January 16, 2010

Hi guys,

As I said in the last article, our vibration plays a major role in determining our success on anything.  Our vibration is likened to our emotional state.  Our emotions are “energy in motion,” vibrating at a low-high frequency.  Higher states of consciousness, like happiness, love, gratitude, and compassion vibrate with greater intensity and attract more of the same, like a magnet.

Anger, hatred, resentment, jealousy, guilt, shame and such vibrate at a low frequency and also attract more of the same.

I  don’t believe I’ve ever entirely gotten rid of my food and body image guilt and shame.  Even in OA I learned that certain foods were “bad” for me, and if I ate them, I’d get fat or remain fat.

So how do we change our vibration around food?  We create a change in our belief systems and we can do this by focusing on thoughts that are downstream and easy rather than upstream and difficult.  We don’t have to change overnight.

Again, here is a quote from Hicks’ book: “Whenever you find yourself beating the same old drum about your body weight, if you would make an effort to turn your thoughts downstream and stay focused upon the subject until you feel a slight turn, in a very short period of time you will improve the vibrational relationship between where you are and what you want, and you will be amazed at the leverage this improved vibration will give to your process.  Everything about this will get easier and easier until, in time, your desired body weight will have been achieved.”

That’s pretty powerful, isn’t it, and hopeful?  So we must change our emotion around food and release the guilt and shame, even if we are binging and our food is out of control.  We must make peace with where we are at and feel grateful NOW.

You don’t have to worry about changing overnight or making a drastic change.  Just pay attention to your thoughts and begin to tweak them a little each day.  “You can choose an upstream thought or a better-feeling, downstream thought.  Those are your only choices: upstream or downstream.  But those choices are enough,” according to Hicks.

I’ll end with one more quote from their book:  “It is all about vibrational alignment.  Do not look for immediate measurable physical results.  Instead, look for improvement in your mood, your attitude, and your emotions.  When you feel better, you are more in alignment—and everything else will follow.  It is LAW.”

These ideas really resonant with me, and I’m going to begin to implement them. I’m going to write down my negative beliefs around food and body image and write more empowering ones.  When negative thoughts come up, I will replace them with a downstream thought that feels good to me.  I will practice this daily until my vibration changes.

In the meantime, I let go of the expectation of releasing weight and the need to do it quickly or on some timetable.  Life is happening now, and I can choose to feel good now if I really want to.

Peace & Blessings,

Angie Monko, EFT Coach

How Your Vibration Affects Weight Loss (Part I)

Posted by Angie on January 16, 2010

Hi,

Why does losing weight feel like a struggle?  Think about how many times we’ve struggled to lose weight and go on diets, to the point that we’ve lost hope that we’ll ever find a lasting solution.

This process has confused me, and I’ve wondered what the key is to successful, permanent weight loss.  I joined Overeaters Anonymous and that helped me to realize it’s a spiritual solution.  I was able to maintain a weight loss for many years and still have.

However, I still want to lose about 15 pounds and never achieved this in OA.  I refused to go on any more diets, although I kept open to different food life styles, raw food, high protein, genotype diet, and a combination thereof.  I know diets aren’t the answer.

Then I found tapping, and this also provides a piece of the solution.  But I have to be willing to tap.  And if the idea of giving up certain foods scares me and it’s not safe enough, I won’t do it.

There have been times when I have lost weight because I thought I’d found THE right answer for me, and I felt the emotion of hope and happiness.  After a while, I reverted back to old behavior because negative emotions of deprivation creeped back in.   I didn’t have lasting success because I hadn’t addressed a vital piece of the missing puzzle.

For example, I experimented with eating only protein for one month.  I lost weight partly because I believed it would work.  Even though I felt positive about the idea of losing weight, I felt emotionally deprived of various foods, like fruits, vegetables, etc.  That is why this method, although effective short-term, would have never lasted for me.

Over the years, I felt okay about being at my weight, and I rarely obsessed over it.  But always lurking in the back of my mind was this nagging question, “Why can’t I release these last 15 pounds?”  I figured it was vanity that made me want to lose more weight.

As I’ve continued to go inside for answers, I suspected that these last 15 pounds had little to do with my eating or exercise habits.  They had more to do with my inability to let go of control of life and just relax. After reading Esther and Jerry Hicks’ book, The Astonishing Power of Emotions, my suspicions were confirmed.

What I’ve learned is that being successful with anything is all about our vibration.  The vibration is the missing piece of the puzzle.  On page 61 of Hicks’ book, it says, “It is not your action that matters; it is your vibration.  It is not your action that makes you fat; it is your vibration.  It is not what you are doing that makes the difference; it is how you are feeling about what you are doing.”  To be continued next week….

Peace & Blessings,

Surprising Information Regarding Your Ideal Weight

Posted by Angie on November 12, 2009

What is your ideal weight based on your height?

I found this convenient site that calculates your ideal weight and also Body Mass Index (BMI)  www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm.  You simply type in your weight, height, age and gender. It immediately returns various metrics, such as People’s Choice Ideal Weight and Medical Recommendation Weight.

People’s Choice Ideal Weight shows the average weight that other people of your Age, Height, Weight and Gender would describe as their ideal weight.  Medical Recommendation is the weight recommended based on a Body Mass Index (BMI) range of 19-25.

What are the pros of figuring your ideal weight in the above manner?

1)      It gives you a direction in which to head.

2)      Perhaps it gives you comfort in how you compare to others.

3)      It’s reasonably accurate and very simple.

What other factors should you consider?

1)      This measurement is not specific to you personally, and the results can be misleading.

2)      It does not take into consideration your bone structure (small, medium or large).

3)       It does not consider that muscle weighs more than fat.

Have you ever wondered what the average woman and man weigh?  See below for the statistics.  This information was posted on 9/11/08 by FatFighter.  The data is for adults ages 20 and over in the U.S. from 1999-2002.

The average female is 5’4” tall or 163 centimeters, and she weighs 163 pounds.  I expected the average height was around 5’4”, but the average weight of 163 really surprised me!  It’s a little on the higher side than what I expected.  What do you think of these statistics?

Average height, weight, and waist circumference

Women:
Height: 63.8 (or about 5′4″) or 163 cm
Weight: 163 lbs or 74 kilos
Waist circumference: 36.5 inches or 93 cm

Men:
Height: 69.3 (or about 5′9″) or 186 cm
Weight: 190 lbs or 86 kilos
Waist circumference: 39.0 inches or 99 cm

Even though I like this quick little calculation of your “ideal” weight, I believe so much more goes into figuring this “magic” number.  For many people, especially women, the number on the scale determines their self-esteem, their mood.  This topic will be continued next week.

Love from your Soul-ution Coach,
